Our Mission
Rowan Tree Pagan Ministries Serves the Pagan Community By Providing Pagan Religious, Educational, and Social Events to the Magical Pagan Community of Southern Oregon.
Our Vision
Rowan Tree Pagan Ministries holds the vision of community property ownership. The Rowan Tree community property will house Rowan Academy Day School for Kids, Rowan Tree Magic School and Seminary, as well as Rowan Tree Industry -printing and publishing, art production as well as the production of ritual libations. Rowan Tree community property will provide a safe and private space for our children to plant gardens, hike, and picnic as well as a sacred space for our adults to learn and celebrate.
Does the Organization Have Non-Profit Status?
Rowan Tree Pagan Ministries is legally recognized by the federal government as a religious, non-profit organization. Any donations or memberships fees made to Rowan Tree Pagan Ministries are tax deductible.
Who Is Eligible for Membership?
Membership in Rowan Tree Pagan Ministries is open to any Pagan, anyone following an Earth based path, anyone who connects to a polytheistic idea of God, or anyone who practices ritual Magic. Membership is also open to members of any Tradition, Grove, Denomination, Circle, Nest, Temple, Hearth, Clan, Group, or Church. Membership is also offered to those who follow a Solitary Path with no official allegiance to any of the aforementioned groups or associations. Membership is also open to any person, regardless of religion, philosophy, politics, race, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation.
What is Membership?
Membership is a partnership between the ministry and its members by which the members work to continue the life and health of the organization; in return the organization provides services to its members.
Members are those individuals who want to make a deep commitment of service to the organization. Everyone owns the ministry, but members are called upon to help decide the growth and direction that we should take every year as an organization, they commit their time and energy, and take responsibility for the continued life of the organization.
Partners are Members who are individuals and organizations in the larger Southern Oregon community who see the value in our services, support what we do and who want to be involved in moving us forward by making a substantial donation toward a special project.
What Services Does the Organization Provide to Its Members?
Everyone is welcome at Moon and holiday ritual celebrations and pot lucks – whether you are a member or not. Additionally members and non-members a like receive a listing on our coven email list to be notified of up coming events and to receive special notices. But as a member you receive extra benefits, such as;
- The right to vote on special issues concerning the ministry in the annual membership meeting.
- Having the quarterly news letter delivered to your email box several days before it is posted on the web site.
- Reduced fees for life cycle events (handfastings, Willowings, etc.)
- Reduced tuition for certain classes and workshops.
- Reduced fee for certain events (i.e. yearly camp out and the Witch’s Ball.)
- Four free Tarot reading a year (in January, April, July, October.)
- A free page on our web site to do with as you please (go to rowantreecoven.org, click on “Members” at the top of the page, click on “Meet Our Members.” Look at what Aylah did with her page.)
- Free counseling and mediation for individual and family issues twice a year.
How Do I Become a Member?
Membership can be obtained in one of two ways; a membership payment of $120 (or payments of $10 a month,) per year; or a yearly work membership (working in the shop one day a month.)
What Does the Organization Do with My Membership Fee?
Right now the biggest monetary obligation we have as a ministry is the community shop. The shop is important to the Pagan community for several reasons; the shop provides art and ritual supplies so that we may practice our religion. It is possible to purchase whatever you need on line, but when you come into the shop you are met with a smile and a hug, magical conversation and refreshments – you can’t get that on line; the other reason the shop is important is for the Commons Area just outside of the shop in the Underground Marketplace. Because the shop exists we have access to the Commons Area for classes, rituals and parties such as our annual Witch’s Ball. Additionally we have had art and psychic fairs in this space. Without the Commons Area we would not have a public space to do cold weather rituals.
Many times sales are low enough that the shop does not make it’s own rent, so we combine the shop sales with membership fees and donations to maintain the lease on this most important space.
For your time and money – your support, we support you in your life by holding a sacred space for rituals, counseling and education.
What is the Future of Rowan Tree Pagan Ministries?
The lease for the community shop expires on February 29th 2010 this is our immediate concern. Once the future of the shop is secured RTPM is currently writing grants to purchase property to accommodate our coven, schools and industry – once this has occurred Rowan Tree Pagan Ministries will be self sustaining through the industries, we will be able to provide our services and will not need to solicit for outside funding.
